At HOMI, we start by decluttering your space to create a more functional, tidy, and calming environment. With your input, we will remove any unnecessary, unused or unwanted items and handle all donations, so you don’t have to.
This essential first step lays the foundation for effective storage and a more peaceful, streamlined home.
Key Steps:
- Sorting: With your help, we will review every item and decide whether to keep, donate, sell, or discard it.
- Simplifying: We will help you keep only the things that add value to your daily life.
- Creating space: We will make room not just physically, but also mentally, by reducing visual and emotional clutter.
- Setting intention: Together, we will choose what stays based on your lifestyle, values, and how you want your space to function.
2. CATEGORISE
Next, we will group similar items together based on their type, function, or how and where they are used.
This step is crucial as it provides structure and clarity, making it easier to assign items a proper home and maintain long-term order.
Key Steps:
- Gathering similar items: We will bring together all items of the same type from around the home to avoid duplicates & identify storage needs.
- Creating logical groupings:We will group items based on: function, frequency of use or owner/zone.
- Sub-categorising:If Needed
- Labelling (temporarily):At this stage, we will name the categories to visualise how the final system will look.
- Assessing quantity and storage needs
3. CONTAIN
Once items are categorised, we will place them into containers (baskets, drawers, dividers, etc.) to give every group a designated home.
This is where function meets aesthetics!
All container options will be discussed prior with you to meet your aesthetic requirements and expectations.
Key Steps:
- Assessing the space and items: We will measure the area where the items will live (drawers, shelves, cabinets, etc.).
We will also consider the quantity and type of items in each category.
- Selecting containers: We will choose storage solutions that fit the space and suit the items and your aims:

We will prioritise quality, durability, and cohesion with your home’s aesthetic.
- Containing each category: We will place each group of items into its assigned container.
- Labelling: We will use labels to make contents instantly identifiable.
